Poker equity calculator Texas Hold'em odds for hands and ranges
Put in two to six hands or ranges, and a flop, turn or river if you like. The calculator deals out every possible board where it can and gives each player's equity, wins and ties. With ranges it deals random hands and boards for a few seconds instead.
Reading the result
Equity is the share of the pot each hand wins on average: its wins plus its part of split pots. Wins and ties are
how often the hand takes the whole pot and how often it shares it. Cards are written rank then suit: Ah is the ace of hearts,
Td the ten of diamonds, suits c d h s.
Equity against a single hand is rarely the question at the table. Against the range a player really has, a strong-looking hand can be behind. The free preflop ranges give realistic starting ranges to paste in.
Questions
What is equity in poker?
Your share of the pot if all the cards were dealt out with no more betting: how often you win, plus your part of the pots you split. 60% equity in a 100 pot is worth 60 on average.
How do I enter a range?
Separate hands with commas or spaces. AA is all six aces, AKs the suited ace-kings, AKo the offsuit ones and AK both. JJ+ means jacks or better, ATs+ ATs to AKs, 22-55 the pairs from deuces to fives and A2s-A5s the suited wheel aces. A specific hand is AhKh. Leave a player empty for a random hand. The same shorthand works in the free preflop ranges.
Are the results exact?
When every player has one known hand, the page deals every possible remaining board, so the result is exact (up to six players, preflop included). With ranges it deals random hands and boards for a few seconds and shows a ± margin; run it again for a tighter number.
Does equity tell me whether to call?
Only together with the price. Compare it with the equity a call needs in the pot odds calculator, and remember that equity ignores the betting still to come, which favours the player with position and the stronger range.
How equity turns into strategy, with bet sizes and position, is what a solver works out. The free web viewer shows solved flops hand by hand, and EVs and equity explains the difference between the two.
